CNBC has discovered that Google maintains a list of all purchases made by users over the Internet, as long as the user uses his email address on Gmail to complete the purchases. The site found that Gmail users can access a list of all purchases they have made over the past five years.

This page contains information to indicate whether the purchase is in the Gmail account, where the message containing the purchase information can be seen, and deleting that message removes the purchase from the register.

A Google spokesman said the page is intended to help users view and track their purchases, bookings and subscriptions. “We do not use any information from your messages on Gmail to display ads, including email receipts and confirmations on the purchase page,” he said in a statement on Friday.
