Following the US campaign on Chinese technology companies, Google has cut off android license from huawei. Huawei is now constrained by the Android Open Source Project, separating the company from the important Google applications and services that users expect outside of China on Android devices. This also means that Huawei will not be able to pay security updates for the Android system.

This latest setback from Google poses a major threat to Huawei’s future business in mobile phones. The company was already setting up its operating systems if it was banned from using Android and Windows, but the locally grown operating system is likely to face more scrutiny from Google.
