StyleGAN, the technology that has been used to generate very realistic human faces, has become open source, according to Nvidia.

Phillip Wang, software engineer at Uber, created the page to demonstrate the capabilities of the GAN, then published it on the public group “Artificial Intelligence and In-Depth Learning”.

The underlying code that made this possible, entitled StyleGAN, was written by Nvidia and is the subject of an article that had not yet been peer-approved. This type of neural network has the potential to revolutionize video game technology and 3D modeling, but, like almost any type of technology, it could also be used for more sinister purposes. It is therefore for the purpose of raising awareness that Wang chose to make this webpage.
