The Japanese government plans to grant up to $ 1 billion to implement a program dedicated to research in various advanced areas, such as electronic technology, artificial hibernation and others.

As a reminder, artificial hibernation refers to a technique that will keep the bodies of living organisms, including humans, in stagnation and possibly enhance longevity. Human increase (also known as anthropology) refers to temporary or permanent attempts to overcome the limits of the human body by natural or artificial means. This term also refers to the use of technological means to choose or modify human characteristics and performance (physical, mental or emotional), whether the results of changing characteristics and abilities outside or not are within human reach.

According to the Nikkei Asian Review, Tokyo will soon invite researchers and academics to submit proposals in 25 areas, from technologies that can support aging to environmental solutions that address industrial waste. An unnamed government source told that 100 billion yen ($ 921 million) had been earmarked to finance these projects for the first five years as part of a long-term support program.

While some of these ambitious technologies, such as cyborg, may seem fanciful, others are strongly linked to Japan’s current problems. Issues related to the treatment of industrial wastes, the increasing aging of the population and the clearance of the oceans affected some of the proposed projects.

Tokyo is also interested in appropriate automation techniques for construction, fishing and agriculture applications and any proposal to further Japan’s goal of recycling industrial waste. So the pioneers in AI should particularly appreciate the announcement, Gartner said.
