At the IFA 2019 in Berlin, Google announced Ambient Mode, a new visual overview that combines information and controls on specific hardware lock screens supporting Google Assistant.
Users can easily see reminders, notifications, play music and control their home screen through the lock screen via Ambient Mode. The new mode also displays images from Google Photos, allowing the device to be turned into a digital photo frame.
This means that Google Assistant, powered by artificial intelligence and able to turn off connected light bulbs and give a range of today’s events running, is becoming more comprehensive.
Chris Turkstra, the product manager, wrote in a post: “With the Google Assistant, we’re helping you get things done around the house whether your hands are full in the kitchen, you’re too tired to get up from the couch after a long day or you’re rushing to get out of the door. With the Assistant now available in over 30 languages and 80 countries, you have more ways to get help, whether you’re at home or on the go”.
Whether you use Google Assistant on a smart screen, smartphone or tablet, such as Lenovo Smart Tab M8 HD, Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab, Nokia 7.2, and Nokia 6.2, Surround to the top of your notifications, reminders, and playlists, switching settings whenever your device is connected to the charger.
Once you’ve seen your notifications, reminders, and playlists, the surrounding mode will switch to a photo slideshow from your linked Google Photos account.
In addition to the Ambient Mode, Google revealed that the assistant can now start voice and video calls from within compatible applications, such as WhatsApp, using voice only.
