Facebook said it had wiped out 2.2 billion fake accounts in the first quarter of 2019, just below the 2.38 billion active monthly users worldwide.

The first CSER report was released in May, and the company said it had eliminated 1.2 billion fraudulent accounts in the fourth quarter of 2018 and 694 million between October and December 2017.

“The validity of the talks is just as important as any financial reports we make, and understanding the spread of malicious content will help companies and governments design better systems to deal with. I think every major Internet service should do that. ” said Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive of the company.
