Yesterday (Wednesday), US President Donald Trump extended another year, that is, until May 2021, the executive order signed in May 2019 (Huawei’s ban), in which US companies were prevented from dealing with the Chinese company Huawei.

The executive order, which was extended to 2021, declares a state of national emergency and prevents US companies from using telecommunications equipment made by companies that pose a threat to national security.

The Law on International Economic Authorities in Emergencies, which gives the president the power to regulate trade, was called for; In response to national emergencies threatening the United States.

Members of Congress said: Trump’s 2019 executive order is directly aimed at Chinese companies, such as Huawei and ZTE (particularly as the US undergoes its ongoing rollout for 5G).

That state of affairs may be about to change: after receiving extensions in May, August, November, and March, the most recent 45-day extension for the temporary license agreement is about to expire on May 15th. Neither Huawei nor the Commerce Department has indicated yet whether another extension of the temporary license will be granted.
