Instagram offers huge amounts of money to content creators for posting videos through Reels. The platform announced its rewards program for Reels in July when Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company was paying $1 billion to content creators through 2022.
The reports shed light on the exact amount an individual creator is offered for Reels, and how many views he needs to get in order to get the maximum rewards.
The instagram creator could earn up to $35,000 if a Reels video gets 58.31 million views in one month.
Meanwhile, smaller content creators were reportedly offered more modest payments. A content creator with about 52,000 followers on the platform was said to have been offered up to $1,000. He also offered others sums of up to $600 or $800.
These rewards increase over time. He recently offered a content creator with 24,000 followers $8,500 for 9.28 million views. The same offer was made to someone else who has 15,000 followers.
And there don’t seem to be any hard rules about how payout amounts correspond to follower numbers. The platform indicated that the program is still in its early stages, and that it is still experimenting with coordination.
Both YouTube and Snapchat provide incentives for content creators. And YouTube announced in August that it was paying up to $10,000 a month for popular videos.
Meanwhile, Snapchat last month announced Spotlight Challenges, which offer various rewards to spur creating videos. Snapchat says its prize pools typically range from $1,000 to $25,000.
A possible explanation for these platforms’ reward schemes is that they are looking warily at the increasing popularity of TikTok.
It seems no coincidence that many reward schemes focus on short video services that are each similar to TikTok.
